Hargeisa, Somaliland – The Somaliland Medical Association (SLMA) actively participated in a national consultation meeting on the draft Somaliland Health Act, reaffirming its commitment to supporting the development of strong and effective health policies in the country.
The consultation meeting brought together key stakeholders, including officials from the Ministry of Health Development, members of the Social Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, and senior medical professionals. The session served as an important platform for dialogue, collaboration, and technical review of the proposed legislation.
During the meeting, participants engaged in detailed discussions on the draft Health Act, which was prepared jointly by the Ministry of Health and the Social Affairs Committee. The discussions focused on reviewing the provisions of the draft law and providing constructive feedback to ensure it reflects the needs of the healthcare system and aligns with best practices.
Representatives from SLMA contributed expert opinions and practical recommendations aimed at strengthening the quality, clarity, and implementation of the proposed Health Act. The Association emphasized the importance of establishing a comprehensive legal framework that supports professional standards, regulates healthcare services, and improves patient care across Somaliland.
