SLMA Participates in Kenya Medical Association Scientific Conference in Naivasha

The Somaliland Medical Association (SLMA) participated as a delegate in the Kenya Medical Association Scientific Conference, held in Naivasha. The SLMA delegation was led by its President, Dr Yusuf Mohamed (Ayman), representing Somaliland’s medical community at this high-level regional forum.

The Somaliland Medical Association (SLMA) participated as a delegate in the Kenya Medical Association Scientific Conference, held in Naivasha. The SLMA delegation was led by its President, Dr Yusuf Mohamed (Ayman), representing Somaliland’s medical community at this high-level regional forum.

The conference brought together distinguished delegates, including the leadership of the Kenya Medical Association, the President of the World Medical Association, the President of the Uganda Medical Association, the General Secretary of the South African Medical Association, the President of the Zambia Medical Association, and the President of the Commonwealth Medical Association. Their participation underscored the importance of regional and global collaboration in strengthening healthcare systems.

The conference was officially opened by Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Health, Aden Duale, demonstrating the government’s commitment to advancing healthcare development. It was formally closed by the Principal Secretary for Public Health and Standards of Kenya, marking the conclusion of a highly engaging and impactful event.

Throughout the conference, participants engaged in a wide range of scientific activities, including presentations of diverse research abstracts addressing health system challenges in Africa and globally. These sessions provided valuable insights into current issues affecting healthcare delivery and explored practical, evidence-based solutions. In addition, interactive panel discussions enabled experts and delegates to exchange ideas, share experiences, and propose strategies for improving healthcare outcomes.

During the conference, the SLMA delegation actively participated in plenary sessions, technical discussions, and networking engagements. This participation provided an opportunity to highlight Somaliland’s healthcare context, learn from international best practices, and explore collaboration in medical education, training, and research.

The participation of SLMA marks a significant step in strengthening its engagement within the regional and global medical community. It reflects the association’s continued commitment to professional development, knowledge exchange, and advancing quality healthcare in Somaliland.
