SLMA Concludes Two-Day Trauma Training at Frantz Fanon University

The Somaliland Medical Association (SLMA) successfully concluded a two-day training on “Initial Assessment of the Trauma Patient” at Frantz Fanon University. Led by Dr. Khalid Sh. Abdilahi, the training strengthened healthcare professionals’ knowledge and practical skills in trauma assessment, bleeding control, shock management, and emergency care. The program is part of SLMA’s ongoing commitment to Continuing Medical Education (CME) and improving emergency healthcare services in Somaliland. SLMA also appreciated Frantz Fanon University for hosting the training and supporting medical education and professional development.

Content

The Somaliland Medical Association (SLMA) has successfully concluded a two-day training program on “Initial Assessment of the Trauma Patient” at Frantz Fanon University (FFU).


The training was delivered by Dr. Khalid Sh. Abdilahi, Emergency Medicine Specialist, and focused on strengthening the knowledge and practical skills of healthcare professionals in the initial assessment and management of trauma patients using up-to-date approaches and protocols.


Throughout the two-day training, participants received theoretical and practical learning on the recognition and management of life-threatening conditions, bleeding control, assessment of shock, initial trauma assessment, and emergency management of injured patients. The training aimed to strengthen emergency and trauma care capacity, improve patient safety, and contribute to saving lives.


The President of SLMA, Dr. Yusuf Mohamed (Ayman), highlighted that the training is part of SLMA’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the knowledge, skills, and professional capacity of healthcare workers through Continuing Medical Education (CME) and professional development.


SLMA extends its sincere appreciation to Frantz Fanon University for hosting the training and for its continued collaboration in supporting medical education, professional development, research, and the improvement of healthcare services in Somaliland.
