SLMA was proud to host a warm and engaging meeting this morning at its office, bringing together key health professional associations from across Somaliland. Representatives from the Somaliland Nurses and Midwives Association (SLNMA), the Somaliland Laboratory Association (SOMLA), the Somaliland Pharmaceutical Association (SOPHA), and the Somaliland Dental Association (SLDA) all came together in a spirit of unity, shared purpose, and mutual respect.

The meeting was not just a formal gathering—it was a meaningful moment of connection among professionals who, every day, serve at the heart of our healthcare system. There was a strong sense of solidarity in the room, as colleagues exchanged experiences, challenges, and ideas, recognizing that while each profession has its unique role, we are all working toward the same goal: improving the health and wellbeing of our communities.

Discussions centered on how we can move beyond working in silos and instead build a more coordinated, collaborative approach. Participants explored practical ways to strengthen partnerships between associations, support one another in advocacy efforts, and create more opportunities for continuous professional development. There was also a shared commitment to raising the standard of care across all disciplines, ensuring that patients receive safe, effective, and compassionate services.

Importantly, the conversation highlighted the power of unity. By working together, these associations can amplify their voice, influence positive change in the health sector, and better support their members. The meeting concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and a collective agreement to continue these engagements, turning dialogue into action.
